Read: The New Inquiry
I waste a lot of money on magazine subscriptions through Zinio and Amazon, and I barely get through any of them. The only thing I reliably read is The New Inquiry. It’s thought provoking and its contributors are some of the finest writers in the world. Each issue is tightly themed and really delves into each topic (Volume 4 on beauty was a standout). The best bit, it only costs $2. You even get access to past editions. So buy it now or you’ll never be allowed to complain about the paucity of quality publications ever again.
Watch: Project Runway Canada
After hearing it recommended on Pop culture happy hour I dutifully downloaded both seasons of Project Runway Canada. It’s more wonderfully bizarre than I’d dared to hope. The contestants are unmistakably and brilliantly Canadian (I like Canadians). Iman plays a sort of alternate universe Heidi Klum and somehow manages to be even more blunt and odd. It’s great. Sadly it only had two series and ended in 2009 but it’s available via torrents and YouTube:
