Watch: Girls
It’s back, motherfuckers! I rarely bother to watch new episodes of a show week by week as they screen in the US; usually I just wait for the end of a season and then watch it all at once. But when it comes to Girls, I do not have that kind of patience. Every week I download it as soon as possible and set aside some time to wallow in it. I’m so happy right now, but I’m already fixated on the end of the season. What the hell am I going to do waiting for the next one? They better hurry up with Game of Thrones is all I’m saying.
Listen: Jeff Garlin’s By The Way
I had such a great time listening to this episode of By The Way with Lena Dunham. Okay, fair enough, I’m crazy about Lena Dunham. And this interview probably isn’t fit for anyone who isn’t crazy about her. It’s meandering, and there are a lot of enthusiastic love-in moments between Garlin and Dunham, but it’s still pretty funny. Lots of stories about Dunham’s experience of polarising celebrity.
Read: Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity by David Lynch
Alright, so this one is a tad wanky (okay, maybe more than a tad). David Lynch has put together this tiny book of thoughts on meditation and his artistic practice. I meditate (don’t judge me), but even non-meditators will probably relate to his observations about mindfulness as an approach to creativity. Add my love of Twin Peaks, and this made for a very satisfying read. If you find Lynch’s brain as fascinating as I do, it’s well worth a look.
